A Program of Giving and Gratitude

Dear Friends:

As we celebrate this holiday season with thanks, we, at Creative Adoptions, Inc., want to share with you information about our program,“Val’s Promise”…..a program of giving and gratitude!

Prompted by Andrea Roberts, the Executive Director of “Reece’s Rainbow” – an International Down Syndrome Ministry (http://reecesrainbow.org ) – and inspired by her team’s amazing advocacy and success in finding families who want to adopt children with Down Syndrome and other special needs, our agency made a commitment to partner with Reece’s Rainbow in rescuing Down Syndrome children from languishing in orphanages and mental institutions all over the world– places where they are so very sadly oftentimes faced with death.  “Val’s Promise”, involves the very powerful and relentless advocacy of the Reece’s Rainbow team in helping us find “forever” families for waiting children with Down Syndrome while Creative Adoptions, Inc. provides all the international adoption support services that are needed – both in the U.S. and in the child’s birth country – to ensure that as many Down Syndrome children as possible are able to come home to their loving and caring families.

The first country of our agency’s focus for “Val’s Promise” focus has been Russia.  However, given the significant costs involved in adopting from Russia – coupled with the fact that families parenting a Down Syndrome child are oftentimes faced with tremendous costs in providing appropriate supports for these wonderful children when they come home -  Creative Adoptions, Inc. made the decision to offer a grant of $11,5000.00 to each eligible and approved family who applies to adopt one of our waiting Down Syndrome children from Russia.    We made this decision in good faith when we initiated the program over a year ago (during the latter part of 2009).  We decided that:  “Where there is a will, there shall be a way!”; that somehow, the necessary funds to cover all the expenses in sponsoring the adoption of each child would come forth!   

Well…….it is with great pleasure that we share that we have found 4 families so far for our 8 identified and immediately available Down Syndrome children from Russia!  Three of our 4 applicant families have already made their first trips to Russia and they are now eagerly and excitedly awaiting their court hearing dates and ultimately the time when they can bring their children home into their tender, loving care!

Then……at our annual reunion in July, one of our adoptive parents of a child from Russia (and also our main sponsor for the summer enrichment program for older orphans from Russia that Creative Adoptions, Inc. had between 2001 and 2005) ….. Dennis Hoffman…… learnt about our program and the financial needs of this program.  Dennis was overcome with emotion, knowing full well the very little chance Down Syndrome children of finding parents in Russia.  Once more, Dennis opened his heart and made a donation in the name of his son, Val, of $10,000.00 to our program, pledging another $10,000.00 by the end of this year!!  

Dennis’s very generous donation and follow-up pledge has gone towards the grants provided to the families who are in the process of adopting the two beautiful children whose photos are at the beginning of this email!  On behalf of these 2 children and their families, thank you so much, Dennis!   Where there is a will, there shall be a way…….. “Val’s Promise”!

Please join our agency, Reece’s Rainbow and Dennis and his son, Val, in making a life-saving difference in the lives of Down Syndrome children!!  Please help us do our little part in getting these children out of orphanages and mental institutions before they either die from their various medical conditions that almost always worsen as they age, or before they are sent to distant and closed institutions to literally die!  Our goal this coming year at the very least is to bring home ALL of the 8 already identified and waiting Down Syndrome children in our Russia Program by the end of 2011.  Of course, our dream is that we will be able to bring home more than these 8 beautiful children!  We CAN do this but only with your help!
