What we are reading ::
Bob and the boys finally finished The Hobbit! Next up is Lord of the Rings
on my Kindle: The Hunger Games
I also downloaded the free e-book, A Thinking Love from Simply Charlotte Mason, then I e-mailed it to my Kindle! So much easier to read on the Kindle rather than the computer screen, and no temptation to print it out.
listening to: One Thousand Gifts
Around the House :: It's been a challenge getting back into the swing of things this week. Bob was still on vacation Monday and Tuesday so we didn't get back to real life until Wednesday and Thursday. I am way behind on my clutter calendar for February, I need to get back on track.
Around the Kitchen :: Not much, it was blissful to have a few days with no meal prep. Even though I do enjoy meal planning and meal preparation, I appreciated having a break from the task for a little bit.
Lent :: I have been looking at all the Caryll Houselander books. Any recommendations? I think I put just about all of them on my wish list. I haven't read any of her books before except for her children's picture book.
Education :: I am starting to think about what summer school is going to look like for us. We plan to continue our normal "3 R's" during a majority of the week, maybe taking off one day, and definitely taking off the month of July. While I want to leave lots and lots of time for important summer time things like playing outside, nature walks, trips to the park, swimming, perhaps tennis?, riding bikes, you get the idea, I also know what happens when we don't maintain some bit of structure around here. I am tossing around the idea of having a couple of mornings or afternoons per week to focus on nature/science experiments and/or history, a state study or some such thing.
I just ordered the Delightful Reading Kit from Simply Charlotte Mason. It arrived while we were gone, so I will have more to report next week.
Jacob~4th grade :: Horizons, Jolly Robin, Copywork/Handwriting, Worldly Wise Vocabulary
Jonah~2nd grade :: Math-U-See, various readers, Handwriting, Phonics-Explode the Code
Sarah~1st grade :: Math-U-See, various readers, Handwriting, Phonics-Explode the Code
Along the Alphabet Path :: S is for Star.
Our reading: The Magic School Bus: Sees Stars
We practiced the sign for both the letter S and the word Star.
I am planning to do this star craft from Enchanted Learning. Thursday is normally our craft day (if we have one to do), but we aren't on normal schedule for our week.
Last week I posted some of our other ABC Resources that we have used throughout our year.
That sums up our short week!
Please, won't you add Patty and her family to your prayers...
Feel free to join in and share your week. I am trying a different link up, I know a few people had problems linking last time, I hope it works!

Hunger Games was the first book I read on our Nook. I loved that when I finished it at midnight....I could just click a button and viola! The second book appeared. Right now the charger is missing and I am half way through my current book. Very frustrating and the #1 drawback on ereaders!
Jessica, it took everything I had not to download that next book! I ended up spending way too much time reading yesterday. I might get it tonight though :) Ugh, sorry you can't find the charger that is frustrating!
I have "The Reed of God" and the "Catholic Tales for Boys and Girls" (both). I love the Catholic Tales books. I would be happy to pass "The Reed of God" to you- email me if you would like it.
How is Jacob liking "Jolly Robin"? I have it on my kindle, but have not even looked at it yet.
Thanks for sharing your week.
I have heard so many great things about "One Thousand Gifts". I will have to check it out.
Like you, I have no idea what to do the summer. As much as I would like to have a nice LONG break, I know that would not be wise for us. I'm considering either half days all week, or regular days Mon-Thurs. and take Fridays off.
Dear Jen, thank you so much for the call of prayers. It is humbling to hear the well-wishes, kind thoughts, and prayers of so many strangers.
Not able to hook up this week. Actually, sitting on my bed with David's laptop right now:)
I would love to hear about Tales for Catholic Boys and Girls. I just ordered a couple of books for lent myself. (So ready to begin my lenten season...sometimes thinking that I already have.)
Hi Jen, thanks for the tip on the Lenten books. The season is quickly approaching.
HI Jen~Glad to hear you like the Kindle. I just gave one to my husband for his birthday:-) I know what you mean about keeping a summer routine...I'll have to think about that too. I also subscribe to Enchanted Learning and love it for a quick idea or two. Wanted to tell you I am reading Caryll Houselander's Reed of God. Not too far a long but it has gotten good reviews. Weekend blessings to you!
We deal with the summer break/still needing a routine issue by not taking one! We take off the months of Dec. April and July instead. I am still getting "my" break, but they are not wandering idle for three solid months.
Have a great weekend!
