Okay, now on to the book!
The author, Julie Gumm, begins the book with a brief overview of how they were able to start paying off debt with the practical advice of Dave Ramsey, how they even managed to pay off their mortgage! wow. Then she gives a short account of how they felt God calling them to adopt and a brief account of their adoption and how they were able to finance it.
The second part of the book, and the main reason you should get your hands on a copy, is all of the ideas for raising funds. While there are probably many ideas that are familiar to you, such as selling t-shirts on your blog to having a garage sale, the little stories of what others have done are inspirational and I think they will help in getting the creative juices flowing to find ideas that will work for you.
Another great section of the book is the listing of all the organizations that offer grants. I just learned about a Catholic organization called Little Flowers. They help Catholic families with adoption related expenses. They have given away $35,000 in grant money in 2010 alone.
Here's one caveat, these ideas will all take effort on your part. However, the rewards are so worth it. Not only will you be able to welcome a new member into your family, but how awesome will it be to receive the tax credit and stash it away for your next adoption!

Jen,
We haven't met but have a person in common (Theresa Light) and being Catholic. :) I have adopted from Bulgaria and would love to adopt again, however this time financially I want to raise funds on the front end and not scramble to cover fees and travel at the end. I would love to be in the drawing for the book! Here is my e-mail (with spaces so that spammers don't hack it) yvonne. villemure@ yahoo. com
Thanks for sharing!!
Yvonne
Hi Jen! We'd love a copy. We are pursuing our second adoption but our dream is to have several more children so finances do impact us.
Second entry thanks to liking you on FB!
I would love this!
I follow you on Twitter- but I already did.
I would love a chance to win and I have already liked you on FB:) I would love to read it and pass it on to some others who I know would be interested. Thanks!
Sounds like an awesome book, Jen. I'm going to pass on the contest though. I'd give it away if I knew someone in the process. But I don't know anyone right now, locally.
I would love a chance to get a copy of this book. We have completed 2 adoptions and are now in debt.. We want to start a 3rd but we know we have to pay off the last one before starting again.. Thanks for sharing about the book:)
I'm not entering but wanted to thank you for linking up to the NOBH. Sounds like the book is a great resource.
I would love a chance to read it. I have to admit though, I'm going to buy my own copy if I don't win. :) Even though we are done adopting ourselves, I would love to have ideas and resources for others.
The Little Flowers Foundation is a great organization. It would be wonderful if people would consider donating to their organization. They get way more requests for grants than what they are currently able to provide. We applied and they were not able to give us a grant due to lack of funding. BUT, I got the sweetest and most heartfelt email from one of the founders. There's such a lack of granting agencies that will consider helping Catholic couples, we really need to support financially those that do.
Kimberlie- I can't believe I didn't know about them, but we will definitely be supporting them in the future. Thanks for entering!
Lori! How did I miss you on Twitter?? I'm following you now, sorry about that :) Thanks for entering!
Jen, I would love a copy of this book, as we continue trying to discern God's will. On another note, I want you to know we have decided to homeschool all our children next year. Your blog has definitely been an encouragement this year! Thank you! Heather Schultz
Heather, that is great news!
This book looks great! We are about to start our 2nd adoption, but are trying to have the funds in order BEFORE we start...instead of trying to 'find' money at the end! :) I would love to read this book!
