It’s time to talk curriculum!
Here’s an overview of what we will be using for our 2013-2014 school year. I can’t believe we are starting our 8th year of our homeschooling adventure. Time flies and I’m looking forward to this being our best year yet.
Our main spine or focus this year is Tapestry of Grace. I’m so looking forward to getting started with our TOG studies. I have already shared with you my reasons for choosing Tapestry of Grace. I know this year will be a bit of a learning curve for us as we get started with a new curriculum, but all that I’m learning so far, I’m loving. I feel like I have the added benefit of learning right along with my children – I love that!

How do you do your All About Reading with multiple students? Do you move them through together?
It’s actually fairly easy. All three are at the same level, except one daughter is just a little bit ahead of the others. I do the lessons with all three and then work for a few more minutes with my older daughter. Does that make sense? The lessons are very flexible and easy to adjust. Let me know if you have further questions!
We have all three levels and I am almost done with level 1 with me daughter, but my next daughter is probably ready to start 1 now. I am thinking about letting her do Pre level with my four year old just for reinforcement. We love AAR! My K daughter will be in PS Kindergarten for now. She came to us thru the foster care system and is awaiting TPR. I am going to work with her at home for reading.
I always like to group my kids together as much as possible, as long as it’s not holding anyone back. I would think the reinforcement would be great! Good luck with TPR – God Bless you!
We love All About Reading…I’m looking into All About Spelling for my younger children. We’ve used TOG in the past, but I have switched to My Father’s World just for a change of pace and “scenery” so to speak.
I am not sure I am going to get to a curriculum post, but I love reading yours!! Sounds like a great year.

Ha! I haven’t even taken them out of the package yet!! That’s a great idea to laminate. I look forward to seeing how you guys like them.

I love the idea of Tapestry of Grace, and love reading bloggers who use it – but we just never have taken the plunge! I look forward to reading more as your year progresses!
What Math U See level do you use for First Grade – Alpha or Beta?
It depends on the child. Most people will probably do Primer for K and then Alpha for 1st.
