Why I Started, Stopped, and Started Again with Rodan + Fields

December 9, 2016 by Jen 7 Comments

Why I Started, Stopped, and Started Again with Rodan + Fields

Why I Started, Stopped and Started Again with Rodan + Fields plus a Giveaway

When I was growing up, all of the teen magazines I read actually gave tips on how to get a better suntan.

I tried just about all of it! Nothing better than a day spent sizzling in the backyard working on that color. There was no SPF 30, bathing suits with SPF 50 or other warnings about sun exposure. Only baby oil and Sun In.

The Michiganders always flocked (and still do!) to Florida for spring break. Every couple of years I was lucky enough to get out of the cold for a bit, and then all of the fellow spring breakers went back to school comparing tans. Whomever had the darkest tan won! I’m totally dating myself, but that is the truth of my high school life.

Steps to Good Skin

Skincare is not a hot topic on my blog. I’m quite positive I have never once even mentioned skin care! But hey, I’m getting older and taking good care of my skin has become more of a priority. Especially since I’m letting my hair go “natural” aka gray, good skin is even more important. No worries though I’m not going to start wearing my hair in a bun and break out the jean jumpers. I’m done with the time suck of hair coloring, but I’m not letting myself go by any means.

I have never been one to buy into the notion of just because I’m a mom means I walk around Target un-showered with yoga pants and hair in a pony. I’m not judging those who do, it’s just not me. Plus when my oldest kids were young, I walked around the mall. Target wasn’t such a “thing” as it is now. Again, I’m totally dating myself!

Starting with Rodan + Fields

Anyway, back to my skin. Shortly after moving to Florida I noticed I had some sun spots on my face. I knew that if I didn’t take action my spots were only going to multiply. Living in Florida is great, but I don’t necessarily want to to LOOK like I live here if that makes sense. Plus, I had never had great skin. I was still prone to break outs and I seemed to need more and more foundation, which is something I don’t love to wear. A high school friend had recently began selling Rodan + Fields and knew that they had a regime that was specifically for the sun spot issue. I contacted her and started using Reverse. After a few months I noticed a huge difference, my spots were gone and I moved on to the Redefine regime. Again my skin responded well and looked the best it ever had.

You Get What You Pay For

Fast forward a couple of years and I started to doubt the products. “I’m spending too much money”, or my favorite “Maybe my skin has gotten better on its own”. I know, I was a bit delusional. I’m not quite sure what altered state I was living in at the time.

So, I made the mistake to stop using Rodan + Fields. I used up the product I had and then the real fun started. What in the world do I use next? One of my goals was to save money so I started at the drug store. I don’t know how many hours I stood staring at rows and rows of jars and containers. I had no idea what I was looking at or what I needed. Thus began my quest to replace my perfectly working products all in the name of “saving” money. Here’s the truth, I didn’t save anything.

Rodan + Fields Easy Skincare System

I kept buying products that didn’t live up to the hype.

I didn’t save any money and I certainly didn’t save myself any time!

Going Back to Rodan + Fields

After about 6-8 months I knew I needed to go back to Rodan + Fields and use a product that actually did what it claimed, imagine that! I also decided that if I was going to be a lifetime customer from here on out, I should sign up to be a consultant. Not only would I get a great discount, but this was a product I KNEW worked and one that I could be behind 100%.

Trust me, my skin is happy!

Since this is the season of giving and sharing, I want to share the Rodan + Fields goodness with one of you! I’m giving away a travel size Multi-Function Eye Cream and a Lip Shield. I use and love both products on a daily basis. I know you will fall in love with them too. Consider it an early Christmas gift from me to you!

Striking a Balance Between Homeschool and Public School

Making the choice to homeschool was not one we made lightly. Plenty of thought and prayer went into our initial decision many years ago, as does plenty of thought and prayer upon each new year. So, what happens when you have a child that isn’t happy homeschooling and wants to make a change? Good question, […]

How to Organize Your Photos into Albums

(contains affiliate links) After Christmas I was sweeping the floor in our guest room, opened the closet door to continue sweeping, when I noticed it was in serious need of some organizational attention. Front and center, taking up a large amount of space were photos and scrapbooking paraphernalia. Perhaps it was due to the […]

100 Resources for Homeschooling a Large Family

Homeschooling in a large family presents some different challenges than homeschooling in a smaller family. There is just more to do. More laundry, more messes, more groceries to buy, more noise! However, there are also more laughs, more partners in crime (for the kids!), more adventures, more sticky hugs and more love. We had an […]
