Homekeeping Notebook

This weekend I spent a bit of time sprucing up my Homekeeping Notebook.  My version, like my Christmas Notebook, is pretty no-frills, but it works.  If I create something too complicated or fancy I just end up not using it.  Also, I just used what I had on hand to up-date the notebook.  I don't have much self-restraint at the office supply store, so I thought it better to just stay home!  Sorry for the dark photos, the sun hasn't been out here in I don't know, maybe 6 or 7 weeks?, not really but it feels like it.

A Homekeeping Notebook is going to look different for everyone, but here is what works for me.  First, I have the Clutter Calendar in front.  I didn't put it into a page protector because I want to be able to cross off what I have done and throw the sheet away when the month is over.

I didn't take a photo of every section, that seems a bit boring, but here is what I have:

❧ At a Glance calendar of 2011 from Donna Young's site
❧ some plain lined paper for notes
❧ List of Birthday's and Anniversaries also from Donna Young
❧ A list of our Saints for the year
❧ My weekly cleaning routine, I used this site Generally this isn't something I need to refer to all the time, but sometimes after a vacation or disruption in our schedule, it's a good reminder
❧ Jacob, Jonah & Sarah's morning routines
❧ Homekeeping recipes such as laundry detergent, glass cleaner, and playdough
❧ I made up a little reminder sheet for some blog posts to do throughout the year

❧ A list of some preschool activity ideas
❧ My reading list for the year
and, my very favorite section:
❧ Vacation ideas!  Family Fun magazine always has a section on fun family trips.  If I see something that looks interesting to our family I will pull it out and stick it in a page protector.  I also will cut out things from the newspaper etc.  I have a list of tips for a Disney trip from a friend that I hope we put to good use some day.

Some other things to include in a notebook could be:

❦ planning pages for the garden
❦ a list of freezer meals (maybe some day I will get to that!)
❦ a list of pantry items
❦ a budget tracker
❦ vacation packing list

I am linking up with Life as Mom and look forward to seeing how others put their notebooks together!

The Family Fun vacation idea's is such a brilliant idea. I started a vacation idea file in our cabinets so many years ago. When we moved here, I remembered I had info on San Antonio so when I took the girls for the first time, I had an instant guide.

Your book is a great idea. I get so discombobulated (sp?) when I feel off track.

Thought I'd start catching up on some blogs today. Always enjoy reading what you have:)

What a fabulous binder! I like the sections you've created, especially the reading list and the vacation ideas. The freezer meals would also be great to include. Thanks for the inspiration! ;)

I love notebooks. I remember a blogger who called it her "brain in a binder". Yours looks great- very pretty too. I am just now working on our new year notebook. I am going to add the blog list and the vacation section (day trips for us) too. Thanks for sharing. You have definitely inspired me to keep at it.

Thanks for linking to the declutter calendar. I have a household binder, but I'm working on updating it. This calendar looks like a great way to keep the clutter at bay! :-)
