Family Reading: The Marvelous Land of Oz
Bob just started reading The Fellowship of the Rings
to the boys
Around the House :: We have been busy with vacation prep. We didn't decide until Wednesday that we were leaving on Friday! That's right, two days to get 8 people ready for a roadtrip :)
Around the Kitchen :: I tried making kim chi this week, with the ultimate goal of making kim chi fried rice. It actually turned out! I was HOT, but good. Next time I will cut down on the spice level because, well, we are wimpy.
We also hit on a green smoothie recipe that even my pickest eater was happy to drink:
1 cup water
2 bananas
1 orange
small chunk of ginger
small handfull of baby carrots
bit of stevia
2 large collard leaves
Education ::

Monday: Did our first read through. We talked about the title and the cover illustration and what we thought the book might be about from those to items. We talked a bit about prairies and where they are found around the world.
Thursday: We planned to learn how to play marbles, however due to vacation prep we didn't get to it. I may take along a bag of marbles on vacation. Here is a good explanation of how to play.
Thanks for tagging along on our week. Join in the link up to share your week too. When you link up please link back to this post. Thanks
I plan to have a linky next week too ~ vacation edition! Have a great weekend.

Where are you heading on your vacation??
I love hearing about your weeks! I can't believe you can get ready and go on vacation on such a short notice. You are amazing. Your Kim Chi looks so good! Where did you get the recipe?
You know...for the yucky two weeks we have had...I love your post! I am living vicariuosly through your school week :)
We have not rowed "Three Names" yet. I am interested to here the rest. Great week.
I am looking in to the smoothie thing- thanks for updating.
LOVE Three Names! 5 in a Row has GREAT books! Are you finding Power of a Positive Mom helpful? I'm tempted to purchase it or find it through interlibrary loan.
LOL! I'm a wimp too. You can't make anything too spicy for my daughter though and she loves kim chi.
This is the recipe I used for both the kim chi and the kim chi fried rice
