Heritage Camp 2013

July 3, 2013 by Jen 2 Comments

If you have been a long time reader, you that I gushed a great deal last summer over our Heritage Camp experience.  The kids waited all year to go again and were not disappointed!
It was another great week for them.  Connecting with old friends, making new friends and learning more about their birth countries.
This year Jacob moved up to teen camp.  They went bowling, go-carting, to Michigan’s Adventure, and on a photo scavenger hunt to Meijer Gardens.  Lots of fun for the tweens and teens.
Like last year, Bob took the week off and we made it a family vacation.  On Monday, Heritage Camp runs Tuesday through Friday, we all went to Michigan’s Adventure.  We love that place!
We also adore Heritage Camp because it gives Bob and I a few hours each day to hang out by ourselves.  A rare treat that we greatly appreciated!  One day we headed further west and had lunch in a cute little town called Saugatuck.  The west side of Michigan is so beautiful.
You can see why we love Heritage Camp so much.  The kids have a blast for several hours each day, we get time to reconnect a bit, and then we all regroup in the afternoon for a fun evening.  We stayed at a hotel with an outdoor pool and it was perfect for the kids each afternoon.
If you have been been contemplating Heritage Camp for your children, I would highly recommend it!

I LOVE that you have this for the entire family!! I enjoy hearing your stories and looking at the pictures, too. I would love to be a fly on the wall at your dinner table during that week in particular. Hearing all the “buzz” from each of the kids’ adventures. I have heard of Saugatuck and it looks so charming! Glad you and your beloved had that special time together as well.
