A Typical Homeschool Day

August 26, 2013 by Jen 5 Comments

So, what does a typical Homeschool day look like?  No two families can answer the same way.

I created a vlog to talk about this very thing and to give my 3 tips for a smooth day.

For some reason my video and sound are not syncing.  The chances of me redoing this video are next to none, so my recommendation is to turn up the volume and close your eyes!

Let my words of wisdom wash over you 😉

Three Tips for a Smooth Homeschool Day

1. Morning Routine:

My morning routine is the cornerstone of my day.  Without my daily dose of prayer time and exercise time, forget it.  My current workout program is T25, I love it, 25 minutes and I’m done for the day.  Some times I do some extra cardio/weights, but other days I’m just done.  Then I’m ready to get on with the rest of my morning routine.

2.  Quiet Time:

Also known as my sanity saver!  After a busy morning and lunch, it’s nice to have a bit of time to regroup and recharge for the afternoon.  I highly recommend working it into your day.

3. Plan for the Day:When you wake up in the morning, it’s helpful to know the focus of your day.  Of course it will be homeschooling, but besides that are you cleaning, doing laundry, running errands?

Write down what the family is going to eat for a week or more at a time.  Simple as that!  Meals don’t have to be fancy, its just helpful to have something written down so it’s one less decision that you have to make.

The more your day is thought through and the more routines that you have in place, the smoother your day will go!

You are SOOO right about the morning routine. If I miss my prayer/quiet time, I am not as good a mom or human that day!

Our sanity saver is called “Rest & Quiet” and it happens right after lunch and if some kids happen to fall sleep during 1 hour of R&Q…God love ’em!

Love the Vlog…so fun to see and hear you in person:) I’m right with you on a similar routine. My morning power walk and prayer time is the key to my peace! I need to be more consistent about meal planning. When I do it, I really feel a lot less stress. We’ve started a cross training routine with the kids right before lunch. We do it 3 times a week and it’s been great for all of us. I notice it works wonders on my son…Boys need LOTS of energy release! Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom and I pray it helps many:)
