12 Days of Christmas

Advent is over, Christmas Day has now passed us by.  I think, aside from the bug that is going from child to child, we had a good Christmas Eve/Day.  The kids were happy with their presents.  We've indulged in too much good food and drink, now we are enjoying a semi quiet week.

We didn't get to everything we had planned for Advent, but that's always the way it goes.  This week I will spend a few minutes ordering my Advent/Christmas Notebook.  I will be adding in this Ginger Snap recipe, it was fantastic, we ended up making the cookies two different times.  I'm also going to type up and print out our meal plan for December.  I'm placing it in my Advent/Christmas binder so next year I don't have to spend time meal planning, I will use the same one as this year, with some slight modifications of course.  No point rethinking the entire month of December each year.

Recently I have read about a few families giving a small present on the Feast of the Epiphany.  I have a new project I would like to introduce to our homeschool week on Fridays and it just so happens that Epiphany is on January 6th, the first Friday we are back to our school work.  The little gift will hopefully help to create some excitement for our project.

At the last minute we had new flooring put in our entryway and family room.  Glad it's done and looks good, but I wasn't eager to have it installed the day after Christmas.  Our plans for the rest of the week include spending time with cousins, seeing friends, a goal planning session, a good de-clutter of the school room, and fresh school plans for 2012.  We'll also be celebrating a birthday while we ring in the New Year.

Hope you are enjoying a very Merry Christmas!

Looks like a great holiday, Jen. I spy some Legos in a picture!

We actually were reading the book by Jan Brett "The 12 Days of Christmas" and learning about the song's relationship to Epiphany. It was interesting to me.

Bet you love that new flooring!

I am enjoying being lazy and lounging around. When do you take your decorations down? We usually wait till New Year's Day. Ha ha. This gives me plenty of time to lounge around :) Glad the kids were able to enjoy themselves even though that bug went around your gang. Cute pictures! Love the "new cowboy in town"!

Adding the menu to the binder is brilliant! I've done it the past two years and it really does save so much time. Looks like you all are enjoying the Christmas season--Merry Christmas!

Jen, I so admire your organization! I have all these big plans each year but then I get caught up in the bustle of life and it doesn't get done. One thing I am doing is looking at our homeschool curriculum and tweaking it. I think certain things just weren't working for my son.

I am glad you are blogging again! Your posts are always an inspiration even if I am not always able to follow through on the good ideas.

Yes, all the boys received some Legos this year. Probably at your house too? That book is on my wish list :)

What great photos, Jen! I always love seeing beautiful, smiling faces on Christmas day! :-)

The notebook is a good idea! I need to get a bit more organized. You will be my inspiration.

I would love to know what you have planned for Epiphany. Last year, my kids made little wisemen to add to their Nativity sets. I need to come up with some new ideas. :-)

Merry Christmas, my friend!
God bless,
Lisa
