Christmas Around the World

Christmas in Russia Christmas in Korea

St. Lucy

Today is the Feast of St. Lucy, the Patron of Light. "It is said that she chose blindness rather than betrayal of the Lord she loved and longed to see. In her suffering courage we catch sight of the light of faith that cannot be quenched by any darkness". In honor of this day we are going to do our annual Christmas Light viewing. After the TKD party we are going to come home, get the kids in their p.j.'s, make a hot chocolate run and then drive around listening to Christmas music and looking at Christmas lights. It is always a fun night for us and the kids.

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

On Friday we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Earlier in the week the kids watched the Juan Diego movie and colored a picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Yesterday we made Mexican Churros, which are similar to donuts. They were good and I didn't remember to take a picture until they were almost gone. We didn't even remember to save one for Dad! Here is was they are supposed to look like, mine didn't quite match in appearance. They were still fun to eat!

Newest Dunlap

After our stop at Dixboro, we decided to head to the Humane Society. The kids have been wanting a cat for a long time. She was the first cat that we saw and after a few minutes of deliberation, decided she would be the one to come home with us. So far she has proved to be a great addition to our family. She tolerates a lot from the kids as they are learning to be gentle and to just leave her alone at times. We think her name is Peppermint, but we are not yet 100% sure. The kids like it, but Dad does not!!

Santa

On Sunday we went to Dixboro General Store to see Santa. The boys were excited to talk to Santa and even Sarah sat right on his lap. Leah, however, would not even go into the same room with him! Santa told the kids to help their mom, no fighting and to share with each other. Jonah walked back up to him later and wanted to know "so how do you really keep an eye on us anyway?"!!
